Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence based (backed up scientific research) therapy that helps the brain process and heal from distressing or traumatic experiences. When overwhelming events occur, the brain can store memories in a fragmented, unprocessed way—keeping emotions, sensations, and beliefs “stuck” in the nervous system. EMDR gently activates the brain’s natural healing ability, allowing these memories to be reprocessed so they no longer feel as intense or disruptive.
Using bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements, tapping, or tones—EMDR helps reduce emotional charge while strengthening adaptive beliefs, insight, and a sense of safety. Over time, clients often notice relief from symptoms such as anxiety, intrusive thoughts, emotional reactivity, and negative self-beliefs. Rather than requiring detailed retelling of painful events, EMDR focuses on how the memory is stored and how to help the nervous system release it.
EMDR can be effective for trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment wounds, grief, and experiences that continue to shape how you see yourself or relate to others. The goal is not to erase the past, but to help you move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and emotional freedom.
